Receipt
Also called: bill receipt, sales receipt
What is Receipt?
A receipt is the document given to a customer as proof of a completed sale, showing items, amounts, tax and payment mode. It may double as the tax invoice where the prescribed particulars are included.
Why Receipt matters
Receipts are the customer's record and often the business's only proof of what was sold at what price. For returns and warranty claims, the receipt is the entire evidence.
How Receipt works in practice
Include everything a tax invoice needs when serving business customers, and keep a digital copy regardless. A QR code for payment or reviews on the receipt costs nothing and gets read.
Frequently asked questions
Only if it carries all the prescribed particulars. A simple payment acknowledgement is not a tax invoice.
