What is a receipt generator?
A receipt is the customer's record of a sale: who sold, what was bought, how much it cost, when, and how it was settled, whether in cash, by UPI, by card or on credit (udhaar). Handing one over with every sale settles most "I already paid" disputes and makes returns easier to check. A receipt generator lets you set the look once, with logo, header, footer and paper size, and then print a receipt for any sale in that same format.
Printing your GSTIN on a receipt does not turn it into a GST tax invoice. A tax invoice needs more, such as the taxable value, the GST rate and the CGST, SGST or IGST amounts, plus HSN or SAC codes where they apply, and this receipt does not calculate tax. If you are GST-registered, treat it as a payment slip, not a replacement for the tax invoice or bill of supply your sales need. When a business customer wants a bill to claim input tax credit, issue one from the Invoice Generator.
Most counters print on 80 mm or 58 mm thermal rolls. The 80 mm width leaves room for longer item names and is common on desktop receipt printers, while 58 mm is typical of small and portable printers. A4 suits shops that bill on an ordinary office printer. Thermal paper fades with heat and time, so keep your own record of each sale rather than relying on the customer's copy.

How to use the free Receipt Generator
- 1Fill in your Business Profile, then press Use workspace on this page so the receipt shows your real name, address, phone and GSTIN
- 2Name the design and choose the paper size (thermal 80mm, thermal 58mm or A4), the separator style and an accent colour
- 3Add an optional header line and a footer message, tick what to show (logo, business info, GSTIN, bold totals) and upload a logo if you have one
- 4Press Save to keep the design; saved templates can be chosen for printing in the Browser POS settings
- 5In Fill in a sale & print a receipt, enter the bill number, date, customer if any and payment mode, then replace the sample items with your own, each with its quantity and price
- 6Press Print receipt and choose your printer in the browser's print dialog
Printing on a thermal printer
Most thermal printers print in black only, so the accent colour comes out black or grey on the roll. Pick a dark colour so the business name stays sharp, and save brighter colours for an A4 design. In the print dialog, choose your printer's roll paper size and turn off headers and footers, or the browser may add the date and page address to the slip. If nothing opens when you press Print receipt, allow pop-ups for this site, since the receipt opens in a new window.

No. The total is simply quantity times price for each item, with no tax line added. If your prices already include GST, the total is what the customer pays, but the receipt will not show the tax amount separately. When you need CGST and SGST shown on the bill, use the Invoice Generator instead of a receipt.
They are sample items that fill the sale form when the page opens, so the preview has something to show. They print like any other line, so before you press Print receipt, type your own items over them or press Remove on the rows you do not need. One row always stays, so overwrite the last one instead of removing it.
Yes. Choose A4 as the paper size and print on any ordinary inkjet or laser printer. Printing goes through your browser's normal print dialog, and most browsers there also offer Save as PDF, which gives you a file you can send to the customer on WhatsApp or by email instead of printing.
No. Only the design is saved, when you press Save. The bill number, customer and items you type in the sale section stay only while the page is open and are not kept as a sales record. To keep a history of bills, ring up sales in the Browser POS, which saves each order and can print with the same template.
