Estimate only, using FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27) slabs and a simplified Section 87A rebate — it excludes surcharge and several itemised deductions. Tax slabs typically change with each Union Budget, so verify against the latest official slabs or a chartered accountant before filing or making a regime decision.

Old regime or new regime — know before you choose

India's income tax system lets most taxpayers choose between the old regime (more deductions, higher slab rates) and the new regime (fewer deductions, lower slab rates). The right choice depends entirely on how many deductions and exemptions you actually claim — there's no universal answer.

This calculator estimates tax payable under both regimes for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27) using the latest slabs and standard deduction we have on record, including the Section 87A rebate. It does not account for surcharge on very high incomes, marginal-relief edge cases, or every possible deduction — and tax slabs are typically revised in the Union Budget each year, so always cross-check against the latest official slabs or a chartered accountant before filing or making a regime decision.
