Static QR Code

Also called: static QR, counter QR

What is Static QR Code?

A static QR code encodes only the payee address, so the customer scans it and types the amount themselves. It is the printed sticker on a counter, a table or a delivery bag.

Why Static QR Code matters

Static codes are free, need no integration and work everywhere, which is why they are ubiquitous. The trade-off is that amounts are typed by customers and payments arrive without a bill reference.

How Static QR Code works in practice

Use static codes where volume is low or hardware is absent, and reconcile the day's credits against the day's bills. For busy counters, dynamic codes remove the matching problem entirely.

Frequently asked questions

The code itself only identifies the payee. The real risk is a sticker being replaced, so check yours periodically.
