No-Show
Also called: no show, reservation no-show
What is No-Show?
A no-show is a confirmed reservation whose guests never arrive. The table is held, turned away from walk-ins, and produces nothing — a direct loss of the revenue that seat could have earned.
Why No-Show matters
On a full Saturday, a handful of no-shows removes several thousand rupees of covers that were available and refused. It is one of the few losses that is entirely avoidable with a reminder.
No-Show formula
No-show rate % = No-shows ÷ Total reservations × 100
Multiply by average cover and party size to value the loss.
How No-Show works in practice
Confirm by message a few hours ahead, hold tables for a stated grace period, and track the no-show rate by source. Repeat offenders and particular booking channels usually account for most of it.
Frequently asked questions
For large parties and peak slots it is reasonable, and stating the policy at booking usually reduces no-shows on its own.
