Takeaway

Also called: parcel, takeout, pickup order

What is Takeaway?

Takeaway, also called parcel, is food packed for the customer to collect and consume elsewhere. It avoids delivery commission but adds packaging cost and needs a counter flow that does not block dine-in service.

Why Takeaway matters

Takeaway is usually the most profitable off-premise channel because there is no aggregator cut. It is also the easiest to under-price, since packaging is rarely built into the menu price.

How Takeaway works in practice

Cost packaging into every takeaway item and give the channel its own pickup point and token flow so waiting customers do not congest the dining area.

Frequently asked questions

Many restaurants match them and absorb packaging; others price a small premium. Either way the packaging cost should be known.
