Batch Number

Also called: lot number, batch code

What is Batch Number?

A batch number identifies a group of items manufactured or received together. It links a unit on the shelf back to its production run, supplier consignment and expiry date.

Why Batch Number matters

Batch tracking is what makes a recall, a quality complaint or an expiry sweep manageable. Without it, a single bad consignment means checking or discarding everything.

How Batch Number works in practice

Capture the batch at receiving, keep it on the stock record, and print it on labels for own-packed goods. Pair it with expiry tracking so the oldest batch is always picked first.

Frequently asked questions
